Store connections
Connect Google Play Console
Create a Google Cloud service account, invite it in Play Console with store presence access, then add the JSON key in AppScreenStudio.
Before you start
- You are signed in to AppScreenStudio (guest accounts cannot add store connections).
- Pro or an active Editor Pass is required to upload.
- Your Android app already exists in Google Play Console.
- You can create a service account in Google Cloud for your Play developer account.
Setup steps
Create a Google Cloud service account
- Open Google Cloud Console and select or create a project.
- Go to IAM & Admin → Service Accounts → Create Service Account.
- Name it (for example
play-store-upload). You do not need GCP project roles for Play uploads. - Open the service account → Keys → Add Key → Create new key → JSON. Keep the downloaded file safe.
- Note the service account email (looks like
[email protected]).
Invite the service account in Play Console
- Open Google Play Console → Users and permissions.
- Invite new users and paste the service account email.
- Grant app access for your package, including View app information and Manage store presence (required for screenshots and listing text).
- Save the invite. It can take a few minutes to become active.
Find your package name
In Play Console open your app. The package name is usually shown on the dashboard (for example com.company.app).
Add the connection in AppScreenStudio
- Open a project in the editor and export screenshots until the job is Ready.
- Open Exports → Upload to Store → Manage connections.
- Choose Google Play, enter the package name, upload the JSON key, then validate.
What to enter in App Screen Studio
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Platform | Google Play |
| Label | A name you’ll recognize (e.g. My Android App) |
| Package name | Exact package name from Play Console |
| Service account JSON | The downloaded service-account .json key file |
Click Validate & save. A green check means the connection works.
Common issues
403 / permission denied
Confirm Manage store presence (and app access) on the service account in Play Console. Wait 5–15 minutes after inviting.
App not found
Package name must match Play Console exactly.
Missing title for language (e.g. en-US)
Fill Google Play title / short / full description in the Store listing tab for that language, or create the locale in Play first. Upload creates the locale when possible.
Upload went to review unexpectedly
Current uploads commit with changesNotSentForReview=true and stay as drafts. Send for review only from Publishing overview when you are ready.
Checklist
- □Service account JSON downloaded
- □Service account invited in Play Console
- □Manage store presence permission granted
- □Package name matches Play Console
- □Validate & save succeeded (green check)
Security
Service account keys are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. The UI only shows a masked preview. Deleting a connection permanently removes the stored credentials.
