ASO Localization: Translating Screenshots for 13 Markets
The lowest-effort, highest-yield ASO move: localized screenshots. Here’s how to ship them for 13 storefronts without losing your mind.
If you publish to multiple App Store and Play Store storefronts but still ship English-only screenshots, you're leaving 15–25% install conversion on the table in non-English markets. Here’s the workflow.
Step 1: pick the markets that matter
Look at your install share by region in App Store Connect Analytics and Play Console. Localize the top 5 non-English markets first. For most apps, that’s some combination of: Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Turkish, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian.
Step 2: translate copy, not visuals
Keep the underlying screenshot, device frame and color palette identical across regions — only translate the headline and any in-app captions. Brand consistency matters in App Store search.
